Amputation And Achievement

“You’ve only got 24 hours in a day.”

”You’ve got the same amount of time in a day as everyone else – 24 hours.”

Ever hear that or some variation of it?

Don’t you hate it!?

The sad part is, even though it’s extremely cliché, it’s true.

If you want to get more done, or if you want to get more important thing done, don’t sweat trying to fit so much in a certain time frame.
The only thing that’s keeping you from accomplishing the seemingly more-time-in-a-day idea is a system. The most successful among us are those that are more productive.

Don’t you wish you had a system to be more productive – taking advantage of the time you need to get the vital tasks done? If you’ve read this far, then I’m going to assume you do wish you had such a system. Well, since you’re still reading, I’m going to give you a few steps of a system to accomplish just what you wished.

Turn Off Your Email
AH! Perish the thought!!

Yes. Turn it off. Not forever. If you’re an email junkie, you’ll need to gradually do this. Instead of checking it 20 – 30 times a day, cut back to 10 or 15 times a day for one week. Then the next week, cut back again to 5 or 10 times a day. Then, eventually get it back to one or two times a day. If you do this alone, you’ll seriously experience a huge time increase. Email eats so much of our time, we get lost in it. Then we look up from our computer screens and wonder why we’re not more productive.

Turn Off Your Cell Phone
This is another epidemic of the information age. Although it’s not as time consuming as email, it can be… if you let it. It could be that you prefer the phone instead of email. In that case, you need to turn off your cell phone. Most cell phones come with voice mail as standard. Let the call go to voicemail. Yes, even if you see the caller ID and you want to get it. Note: You let it go to voicemail if you WANT to get it. If you NEED to get it, then of course, you get it. But you have to determine between the WANT and the NEED. And you KNOW the difference.

Turn Off Your Television
Television is the most single waste of time there is. You can get SO much more done if you’ll simply just turn off the stupid television. There are more brains made mush by television than any other medium so far. Television doesn’t foster any brain activity. It doesn’t cause you to think and it certainly doesn’t cause productivity. In fact, it causes habitual laziness. So, turn off the idiot box and discover more time.

Make A List
Once you’ve resolved to do the above three things, think. Once you’ve thought what you want to accomplish, prioritize each item. Make a list of each item, most important to least important. Then use all the time that you just created to complete each one – one at a time.

You’ll feel better and more accomplished after doing this just a few times. That feeling will cultivate more drive to get more done. Before you know it, you’ll become a massive monster of motivation and achievement!

Welcome to the real world.
