Smiling At The Bathroom
Scale: How To Keep The Pounds Off For Good
If you find your closet littered with skimpy outfits you HOPE to wear
someday, stop moping around and find a way to celebrate the inner “you”.
Yes, the beautiful creature beneath the adipose tissue! Sounds far-fetched??
Not anymore, here are some sure-fire ways to slim down, trim down and
keep it all tucked in.
1. Stop starving yourself. Skipping meals isn’t
exactly the answer to your weight dilemmas. Rather than starving yourself
to death, do the opposite and keep your stomach busy by eating small
portions of food throughout the day.
If you skip lunch, you might end up really, really hungry at dinner,
as a tendency, you binge while you make up for the meal you missed.
Remember, breakfast should be the heaviest meal of the day. Don’t
skip it, even if official traffic jams start at 7 a.m. sharp. Lunch
should be adequate (assuming you followed my advice and had a good breakfast),
and dinner should be light (never heavy). Got the trend? The earlier
it is in the day, the heavier the meal. During night time, your body
tends to concentrate on resting. While you are sleeping, blood supply
goes to the brain rather than to your stomach, so less food gets digested,
more of it gets stored. So unless you sleep walk for 50 miles at night,
don’t indulge in dinner too much, the energy you get from it won’t
be used anyway.
2. Exercise regularly (and no, regularly isn’t short for
“whenever-you-feel-like-it”) I know not everybody
thinks that spending time in spandex shorts and sweating like a hippo
after work is something to look forward to. But there are ways to enjoy
exercising rather than thinking of it as an ordeal at the penitentiary.
For one, ask some friends along. At least you would no longer be seen
as a lonely pair of spandex shorts at the treadmill. Then, be adventurous
enough to try on different types of exercise. Instead of the usual aerobic
exercises, why not go for belly-dancing, boxing, modern dance and the
like? What’s important is you sweat some of that lard off without
thoroughly being miserable right?
Have fun with it! Also, go for quality and not quantity. Research shows
that it’s not the amount of time you spend working out in a day,
it’s the quality and the regularity that counts. Rather than spend
3 hours at the gym, 3 times a week, make it 1 hour of work out time
every day.
3. Drink water. Tons of it. Water is a natural diuretic,
which means it makes you pee a lot, by doing so it gets rid of the toxins
you accumulate inside your body. Not only is it the healthiest drink
ever discovered, it also gives you that feeling of “fullness”.
You end up not eating too much because you feel satiated already. It’s
a fat-free, zero calorie drink that’s sure to keep the pounds
at bay, bottoms up!
4. Don’t gobble it all up without tasting it.
The secret to buffets and eat-all-you-can meals….? TASTE IT. ALL
OF IT if you wish, so long as you keep your portions small. Once you’ve
tasted it, try the other dishes out. If you keep in mind that you’re
purpose is to simply taste the food, relish it and move on to the next
dish, it would be unlikely for you to binge-eat. While piling on the
variety of food at the buffet table, make sure that after you finish,
the portions are small enough that you can still see the plate. If you
can’t otherwise, then that’s a bad sign. I guess you have
no idea of what “small portions” look like.
If you think you’re ready for that skimpy little black dress,
I need to add a wee bit of a finishing touch. Remember that what you
exude is far more than the perfect 10 vital statistics, more than a
“hot body”…what’s important is being comfortable
and confident in your own skin, no matter what dress size you’re
in. Now that’s what “sexy” is all about.
