The Importance Of NLP Neuro-Linguistic Programming, more popularly known as NLP, is a technique used by most people to improve their lives in all aspects - from their personal and family life, business and finances, career, physical aspect, or just about anything. People who want to make a big change in their lives make use of NLP to achieve what they want. This kind of programming can be applied to motivate a person’s soul, body, and mind. It is actually a method consisting of several techniques chosen by the person. Whatever the methods used, it is geared towards imitating an admirable attitude or behavior. There are role models in our lives and in our society; and most often, we want to be like them or to achieve what they have achieved. Most often, people want to be as successful as other people. While each individual is distinct from each other, another person’s behavior can be copied by learning about how the other person behaves. Aside from copying admirable behavior by pursuing the techniques used by the model behavior, NLP can also be effective in enhancing a person’s skills in dealing with people, improve a person’s management style, and in other areas of self development. Through NLP, some people have eliminated their negative behavior and in the process, gotten rid of their anger, depression, or self-pity. People who see themselves lowly can benefit from NLP by being able to rise from their low self-worth to having a better view of their importance in the universe. NLP is actually part of the New Age techniques in self-development. It is a mantra used by people who conduct group awareness and self-development trainings. NLP can actually transform losers into winners. NLP has effected change in many people, not just in their personal lives, but also in other aspects of their lives like emotional, financial, social, and even business. Because of this, it has earned a reputation for being an agent of change among its believers. It is also used by psychologists in improving the mindsets of people with psychological problems. For the laymen, NLP simply means being able to discipline or train your mind into following certain mindsets or behaviors, and putting them into good use. It is really a training technique for the brain. It relies heavily on the willingness and determination of the person who wants to undergo change through NLP. NLP is just like self-hypnosis and convincing one’s self into believing things. It can be compared to brainwashing, although in a positive sort of way, and with the consent of the person being brainwashed. For most people, NLP means learning more about how a person’s brain works and how it can be controlled to produce a particular response. While there are people who have benefited from NLP, there are skeptics
who do not believe an iota of what is being said by supporters of Neuro-Linguistic
Programming. Some do not really agree with the contention that people
can really dictate on someone’s subconscious mind. The only way
to measure the success of NLP is through the testimonies of people who
seem to have benefited from it and have become its followers. In the
meantime, those who believe in Neuro-Linguistic Programming are being
challenged to make their claims acceptable, valid, and credible. |
