How To Improve Your Memory We always see television commercials marketing products that promise to help us improve our memory, be it a glass a day of a certain brand of milk with special ingredients or the regular intake of vitamin supplements to boost the brain's ability to retain information. But do all of these work? If you take them to heart, yes. Forgetting something should no longer be feared, as there are many techniques to help improve your memory. Even at your prime, you can still regain the youth of your recall skills through the following easy and practical methods. 1. Always keep your brain active. Exercise the brain as often as possible by training it to remember facts, figures, descriptions, numbers, addresses, and the like. Remember that your brain keeps on growing and developing, so you'll need to feed it. It is also best to try to exercise the brain by having it work on some memory improvement puzzles, like crosswords and mind games. To add, introduce yourself to new things, like a new language or a new musical instrument. 2. Exercise regularly. Exercise can do you a lot of good. It improves circulation throughout our body, including the brain, and can help prevent memory loss. Exercise can also help you feel more relaxed even during tense situations; and with relaxation comes a better chance of retaining the strength your memory. 3. Curb stress. Stress can actually make you more agitated and tense, thereby, making you more prone to forgetting things. When you are stressed, you tend to have a more difficult time focusing on things. Identify your stressors and try to avoid them as much as you can. The more clogged your mind is with information, the more likely you are to forget the things that matter. If you still feel under the weather, you might want to seek professional advice and therapy. 4. Eat healthy. There are many advertisements on food
supplements that claim to help you improve your memory; but, still,
there remains no solid proof that these supplements actually work. Eating
a healthy diet contributes to a healthy brain, and, therefore, to a
healthy memory. Eat these foods as much as possible: blueberries, spinach,
berries, and broccoli. Brain cells naturally degenerate over time. However, we can slow this
process by living a healthy life and giving our memory leeway to perform
better. |
