Curing Insomnia Insomnia is a problem that is sometimes quite difficult to understand.
Many people find it hard to go to sleep after laying on the bed for
two hours already, and still, some are surprised to wake up earlier
than usual while remembering that they have latched on the bed for two
or three hours tops. When dealing with insomnia, people get to be less
productive, less energized and disinterested with their work since they
lack sleep. 1) Try and go to bed at the same time every night. This would trigger a change in your biological clock, and your body system would get used to sleeping on the dot, on whatever time you choose to sleep. 2) As much as possible, avoid drinking anything with caffeine before going to sleep. Coffee, or sodas should be cut back before going to sleep since they contain enough caffeine to keep you awake. 3) Before going to bed, avoid eating large meals. Don’t get you stomach too full as you would have a hard time going to bed. 4) Drink a glass of warm milk before going to bed. Milk contains L-tryptophan which would boost the serotonin in your brain, which would cause you to become sleepy and makes you fall asleep easily. 5) Never use your bedroom as a place of work. Seeing your bedroom filled with paperwork, unsolicited bills and everything related to your work makes you more stressed out, and therefore, this would make you a little bit more alert. Treat your bedroom as a bedroom by making it as comfortable as possible. 6) Take a warm bath before going to bed. This would make you feel more relaxed, and more drowsy. 7) Listen to calm and soothing music that would help you relax. Don’t listen to hard rock music since that would keep you awake all night. 8) Buy comfortable pillows and mattresses that would suit you. Give your head a breathing space and match it to the pillows that would give you time to relax and to sleep. 9) Maintain a bedtime ritual before going to bed every night. Practice some soothing activities that would make you want to go to sleep. 10) Keep your room dark. Don’t switch on the
lights as light passing through our eyelids interferes with our normal
sleeping patterns. |
