Talent shows are all the rage in television lately. For awhile these shows concentrated on singing and dancing abilities.... American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance, both on Fox Television for example.

Those shows featured people who were not famous singers or dancers but who wanted to be competed for prizes that included contracts. Both of them were very successful.

This past summer NBC came up with its own version of the talent show, America’s Got Talent, which included all kinds of talent including but not limited to singers and dancers.

There were seventeen magicians that completed and several did very well, indeed. It seems that America not only has talent but loves magicians.

All four networks sometimes air specials that feature well known magicians. Don’t ever skip one of those. They are all top-drawer entertainment and will leave you shaking your head and saying, “How’d he DO that”?

Three very well known and very talented magicians that you certainly won’t want to miss are Lance Burton, who was featured in the 2006 Tournament of Roses Parade,

David Blaine, who performs endurance stunts like attempting to hold his breath for nine minutes, and David Copperfield, who performs the most amazing illusions on the planet!

Magic is wonderful entertainment. Many very upscale restaurants feature magicians that go from table to table performing up-close magic tricks to entertain and amuse diners.

You can find street magicians in abundance in most large American cities. They perform street magic and accept donations to make their income. Once the magic bug bites, they are driven to perform even if they must do it for starvation wages.
