Music, they say, is the universal language because it is written exactly the same and played the same all over the world...so I suppose that its true.

Magic must be the universal entertainment then because, although, the patter may be in different languages, an illusion is an illusion in every language and a magic trick that works in one part of the world will work in every part of the world.

Magic is universal and so are magicians. They come in every shape, size and color and from every country.

America has, of course, produced many outstanding magicians like David Blaine, for example. David was born in Brooklyn, New York. When he was only four years old, he saw a magician perform in a subway and he was hooked.

His grandmother, who was a gypsy, passed down some tarot cards to him. He went to the library and read everything he could about magic.

When he was ten, he performed a magic trick for a neighbor and saw how magic effected people. His dream was born and, as they say, the rest is history.

The very famous magician Juan Tamariz was born in Madrid, Spain in 1942. When He was a child of four or five years old he wanted to be a magician, he didn’t know why but this was inside of him, and he asked his father for a magic set.

Juan can entertain people for hours armed only with a deck of cards.

Alex Elmsley was born in England. He died this past January and the world lost one of its finest magicians. Elmsley created a number of magic tricks including the Ghost count, Between Your Palms, Point Of Departure and Diamond Cut Diamond.

The special count in Elmsleys Four Card Trick was a great invention to the magical world and was renamed the Elmsley Count in his honor.
